(Lafayette, IN) — Almost all of the penguins have died at the Columbian Park Zoo in Lafayette. Six African penguins died several weeks ago after arriving at the zoo five months ago. There are three remaining penguins in critical condition. Zoo officials say the penguins are suffering from avian malaria, which is a parasitic disease transmitted through mosquito bites.
