On Monday, March 23rd, Governor Eric Holcomb issued a 2-week Stay at Home Order for the state of Indiana to curb the spread of COVID-19. This order will take place statewide starting Tuesday, March 24th at 11:59pm through 11:59pm on Monday, April 6th. This order may be extended. Hoosiers are encouraged to conduct essential and life-supporting activities, such as grocery shopping, traveling to and from work, picking up prescriptions, caregiving, and attending doctors’ appointments. Travel in and out of the county is not restricted.
In support of this declaration, the Boone County Commissioners, in partnership with Witham Health Services, Boone County EMA, Boone County EMS, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and Boone County Health Department will be implementing certain policies and recommendations. The following guidance will be implemented beginning Tuesday, March 24th at 8:00AM through April 7th: • The Boone County Courthouse and other county-owned and operated buildings will be closed to the general public. Essential services may be conducted in person, online, electronically, or virtually. Please contact the necessary office or facility for further guidance on how to conduct your business
Essential businesses may remain open at this time. They are permitted to enact further policies to promote health of customers and employees, such as (but not limited to) restricted hours and social distancing policies. The following essential businesses may remain open: • Grocery stores • Doctor’s offices • Gas stations • Hospitals • Law enforcement • Fire departments • Garbage pickup • Public transportation • Public service hotlines • Restaurants with carryout and delivery • Banks • Laundromats • Pharmacies • Childcare facilities • Car/body shops (by appointment) • Hotels
The following non-essential businesses shall close for duration of the Governor’s order: • Retail shops (non-life essential products) • Hair/nail salons and barber shops • Dine-in only restaurants • Fitness centers/gyms • Movie theaters • Bowling alleys • Vape/tobacco shops
