Susan Lucille (Belcher) Hancock, 79 of Whitestown passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and friends at her home in Whitestown on Thursday, November 7, 2019.

Susan was born in Indianapolis on March 29, 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel Marie (Moore) Belcher and Emory Owen Belcher, along with her brother, William Owen Belcher.

She married John Edwin Hancock on May 23, 1959 and they were happily married for 60 years. She was raised and educated in Boone County, graduating in 1958 from Perry Central School.

Susan resided in Boone County for the majority of her life. She worked at Rough Notes as a proofreader and for Economy Insurance, but her true passion was all the years providing childcare in her home.

She is survived by her husband, John, along with her siblings Pamela (Penny) Joan Scott, Brenda Kay Marlow. Additionally, her children, Richard Michael Hancock (Cheryl) and Mark Douglas Hancock. Grandchildren, Kyle Michael Hancock (Aliecia), Alexus Kay Lynn Smithes (Phil), Erika Rachelle Shepherd (Lane), Daphne Danielle Hancock, and Trinity Taylor Hancock (Billy). Great grandchildren are Landry Michael Shepherd (5), Dominic Kade Ottinger (5), Brooklyn Leeanna Jean Mueller (1), and Laney Rae Shepherd (10 months). There are several nieces and nephews as well.

Susan enjoyed cooking, camping, rodeos, travelling and spending time with her family. She loved animals. She knew the value of church and was a dedicated member of the Lutheran faith. Susie was a longtime member of Eastern Star, she loved life and her family.

Family and closest friends are invited to attend visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in Lebanon with Rev. Emmanuel Penumaka officiating. Inurnment of Mrs. Hancock’s ashes will take place at a later date on the family farm.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Boone County or the Boone County Cancer Society.

Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with her care.
