Thorntown volunteer firefighters served a record crowd at their annual fish fry Saturday night. Mike Martin, Thorntown Sugar Creek Volunteer Fire Department chief, said, “It was a blow-your-mind type of turnout.” The crowd had eaten all 1,640 pounds of fried fish by 6:30 p.m. Proceeds from the fish fry fund equipment for the department’s 35 volunteer members, maintain the station and help toward daily costs.
