Mr. Thurman Joseph “TJ” Fleck, 72, of Lafayette and formerly of Lebanon, passed away Dec. 30, 2019, at I.U. Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
TJ was born Feb. 26, 1947 in Indianapolis, a son of the late Thurman and Dorothy (Neyer) Fleck, II. He was married to Nancy (Riner) Fleck. She survives.
TJ served in the U.S. Army and retired from General Motors after 30 years of service from 1966-1996. He took on part-time work where he worked as a driver for Indianapolis Car Exchange and mowed grass at Oak Hill Cemetery.
TJ was a member of the VFW in Advance, Good Sams Camping Club and Harley Davidson. He attended the Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Lafayette and was a long-time member of Central Christian Church in Lebanon, Advance Community Christian Church, and Grace Bible in Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy and sons: Eric (Christina) Fleck of Lebanon and Scott (Keri) Fleck of Lafayette; grandchildren: Amy (Craig) Corwin, Emily Fleck, Kaitlyn Fleck, Chelsea Fleck, Reece Fleck, Caden Fleck, Ava Fleck, Connley Fleck and Nick Parrish; a great granddaughter, Magnolia Corwin; brothers: Robert Fleck of Wisconson, Michael Fleck, Jim Fleck, Joseph Fleck and William (Frank Santana-Fleck) Fleck, all of Indianapolis; sisters: Sharon Taylor of Indianapolis, Mary (Jim) Doty, of Noblesville, Carol (Mike Beason) Grieman, Donna (John) Frank, Debbie (Paul) Urban and Beth Fleck-Kinney, all of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. TJ was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Dortch; a grandson, Anthony Dortch, and a brother, John Fleck.
Family and friends will gather Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 for visitation from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. TJ will be laid to rest at Dover Cemetery in Dover.
