Mrs. Viola Fern Ward, 94, of Thorntown, passed away May 16, 2020, at Homewood Health Campus.

Fern was born Jan. 3, 1926 in Boone County, IN, a daughter of Raleigh and Letha (Hine) Copenhaver. Fern was married to Kenneth Ward. He died in 2000.

Fern was a graduate of Pinnell High School. She worked as a pharmacy clerk for Randall Pharmacy and at Boone County Hardware, as well as alongside her husband and the family farm.

Survivors include her daughters, Pat (Russ) Sanders of Indianapolis and Alice (Earl) Kinslow of Kokomo; sisters, Norma Nolan, Sue Bennington, and Charlene (Bill) Woodard, all of Lebanon; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, Fern was preceded in death by three brothers, six sisters and one grandchild.

Family and friends will gather Friday, May 22, 2020 for visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
