Mrs. Wanda Ruth Tyler, 85, of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at IU Health North Hospital. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on April 2, 1937, a daughter of the late Charley and Ruby (Trammel) Smith.
On November 11, 1967, she was united in marriage to Bennie Thomas Tyler in Boone County. He passed away April 5, 2000.
Raised in Oklahoma City, Wanda was a graduate of the public high school. After moving to Indiana, Wanda was devoted to raising her family and taking care of the home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In addition to her family, Wanda liked to play Bingo and computer games and frequent casinos. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 79 in Zionsville.
Survivors include children, Colette Tyler of Lebanon, Kathy (Jerry) Blankenship of Cottageville, SC, and Garry (Esther) Carroll of La Quinta, CA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Wanda was preceded in death by a daughter, Bennie Kay Sheperd; son, Keith Carroll; brother, Kenneth Smith; and sisters, Mary Richardson and Betty Thompson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana. Funeral Services are planned for 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 4, at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at Bethesda Cemetery in Brownsburg, Indiana.
Memorials may be directed in her memory to charity of the donor’s choice.
