On May 24, 2022, at approximately 4:05 p.m., Officers with the Lebanon Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of Sunchaser Road for a welfare check on a suicidal person. Officers were able to make contact with the 40-year-old male at
the residence, who was found to have been armed with a gun. While communicating with officers, the subject made comments that lead officers to believe he was a danger to himself. During their conversations, the male asked the officers to leave the
residence.
Officers began establishing a perimeter while continuing to communicate with the subject. The Boone County Special Response Team and Boone County Crisis Negotiation team was contacted to assist with this incident. After nearly 2 hours of communicating, the subject peacefully surrendered to officers. The subject was transported to an Indianapolis area hospital to be evaluated by mental health professionals. As of this time, there were no crimes committed and no further information will be released.
