Willis Robert “Bob” Hood died peacefully at home in Lebanon, Indiana, surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 30, 2023. He was 84 years old. Born June 25, 1939, in Mt. Vernon, Pike Hill, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Thomas and Ida (Turner) Hood.
On May 21, 1981, he was married to Beverly Jean (Wilson) Voorhis Hood; she survives.
After moving to Indiana from Kentucky, Bob attended Lebanon Schools. He worked as a service technician for Bryant Heating and Cooling for 27 years and retired at the age of 62.
He was a skilled handyman and could fix anything. Bob loved to be outdoors and enjoyed tending to his garden. He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Hood; stepchildren, Sherry (Greg) Chastain, Randy Voorhis, and Serena Voorhis of Lebanon; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Monroe (Shirley) Hood of Monrovia; and sisters, Elizabeth (Ronnie) Maiden of Pittsboro and Luella Scamahorn of Spencer.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Larry Wayne Hood, and a sister, Helen Monford.
Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of services. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Brownsburg, Indiana.
Memorials may be directed in his memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
